Stuelke Sets School Record

On Tuesday, January 11 in the game against the Cedar Falls Tigers, Hannah Stuelke (‘22) set the all time Washington Warriors Women’s Basketball record with the most points scored in school history. Her Junior year, her all time points record was at 1,000. She’s the leading scorer in all classes in the state of Iowa. Hannah stated,“I never thought I’d be like this with these girls and it’s really cool.”

When talking about what got her into basketball, she says, “I think it was kind of in my blood. My mom played and my dad played.” Her mom also played basketball here at Wash. The person she looks up to and who inspires her is her mom.

The first basketball team she played on was at the YMCA with a boys and girls team. The part of her game she still needs to work on she says is, “shooting and probably free throws.” The thing she wants to accomplish this season is a trip down to state. So far, what she says she has enjoyed about the basketball season is having friends and a connection with all the girls.

She will be attending The University of Iowa in the fall and will play basketball. She signed to Iowa back in November. She says, “I’m looking forward to playing on the team and playing with Caitlin Clark and playing for Lisa Bluder.” There are only a few games left to watch her play at Wash before the seasons over. Make sure to come out and cheer her on!
