Like ceramics? Want to learn how to throw on the wheel? Well, Washington has a new art club for you. Monday’s after school in Mrs. Schmelzer’s room, students of all different levels of ceramics are invited to join to learn more about the art of ceramics.
She teaches students how to use the wheel that is only available to be learned in advanced art, leaving some kids wondering and wishing to get into that class, but they don’t have to worry anymore.
This club was a popular ask throughout Schmelzer’s art classes and with the lack of the regular art club, she decided to use her student’s words and create this club.
In the club, Schmelzer teaches students how to throw on the pottery wheel and create their own artwork.
The club has been meeting for the past two weeks and students are more than excited to learn.
“She helped us so much when it came to learning the wheel.” Emma Hoover-Grinde ‘19
said.
The club is opened to any student who is willing to put in time and effort.
