At Linn-Mar, Washington swimmers, Ethan Ford, Zack Kolker, Max Novetzke all ‘19, and Grady Wheeler ‘22 had a strong start finishing second in the 200 yard Medley Relay. And they continued in the second event with three placing in the top six in the 200 yard Freestyle. Jeremy Throndson ‘19 placed first, Kulker placed fifth, and Mitchell Hause ‘19 placing sixth. James Breitbart ‘19 placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, only behind Blake Wyrick ‘19 of Burlington. In the 500 yard freestyle Throndson placed first, Kolker placed third, and Connor Cruise ‘21 placed sixth. The same group who competed in the 200 Medley Relay, placed third in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay. They also placed second in the 400 yard Freestyle Relay, only behind Linn-Mar. Washington placed second at District with 385 points, only behind Iowa City West who had 443.

At State, the boys started off with an 11th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay containing Ethan Ford, Max Novetzke, James Breitbart, all ‘19, and Mt. Vernon’s Zach Kolker ‘19. In the 200 freestyle, Kolker placed 10th and Jeremy Throndson, ‘19, placed 13th. Ford finished 10th in the 100 backstroke. Novetzke placed 14th, jumping nine placed from his predicted slot of 23rd. In the 500 freestyle, Kolker placed 8th, followed again by Throndson in 10th. Finishing out the meet, Breitbart, Kolker, Throndson, and Mitchell Hause, all seniors, finished the 400 Free Relay in 11th. Overall, the Warriors placed 10th, with Ankeny, Waukee, and Bettendorff placing first, second, and third.
