Washington High School Student Hit By School Bus

A Washington High School student has been taken to the University of Iowa Hospital after being hit by a school bus on Mt. Vernon Road around 7:30 a.m Thursday morning. Authorities received a call at 7:38 a.m. that reported a Cedar Rapids Community School District bus had hit a 15 year old male. The student was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical center, and was then transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital. It is reported that the student has serious injuries.

 

Update: The student who was hit by a school bus on October 4th has been identified as Cameron Smeby. Smeby is recovering from serious injuries, including a broken leg, broken arm, and punctured lung. According to authorities, the bus driver who hit Smeby was seen on video running a red light.
