Max Locher Breaks School Record and Cross Counrty Qualifies for state

On Thursday, Oct. 12, Max Locher, ’20, broke a 12 year old school record, running a 15:47 5k to win the Valley Divisional cross country meet. The previous record was 15:55. Locher was also named MVC cross country athlete of the year. The following week on Oct. 19, the Warrior cross country teams competed in the state qualifying meet at Iowa City High. 4 Washington runners raced well enough to earn a spot at the State meet. These runners were Reagan Gorman, ’19, who finished 8th in the women’s event along with Khory Nobles, ’19, Paul Schneiderrmann, ’19, and Locher, finishing 4th, 5th and 6th in the men’s event, respectively. Along with these individuals earning a spot the state event, as of press time, the men’s team ranked top ten in the state. They finished 3rd at the district qualifying meet despite not having a top 5 runner on the team, Lewis Kleman ’18. The state meet will be Saturday, Oct. 28 at Fort Dodge.
