It has been noticed upon students at Washington High School that the amount of parking tickets given out in the south (jock) lot has gone up. People are complaining of harsher ticketers going out more frequently because of a new ticketing policy. According to Associate Principal Darius Ballard, that is not the case. “There has been no more enforcement than there has been in years past,” said Ballard.
However, the distribution of tickets has been mildly larger, specifically at the beginning of the school year. “It would appear primarily, that the distribution was larger in quantity due to students not getting their parking hangars. After allowing for that initial trade, things have quieted down quite a bit,” said Ballard
So, is this whole new enforcement in our heads? Are we getting worse at parking? Because the amount of parking space seems to be a huge factor in getting tickets, Ballard has come up with an easy, yet maybe not as sufficient of a solution as most would prefer. “The simplest suggestion is the one most students don’t want to hear. The south lot is small while the north lot is very big. The north lot has never been to capacity this year. If you want a great spot, get here early. Otherwise always check the north lot,” said Ballard.
Whether it’s convenient and worth the ticket or not, choose your parking spots carefully.
