Take the Plunge for Special Olympics

Brian W

Alright, not everybody loves jumping in bone chilling water, but think of the cause! You could be a part of something amazing for just letting your body go numb in less than 10 seconds.

Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) is a nonprofit organization that helps out athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state. Since 1968, SOIA have been working with children and adults with these disabilitites by setting up different events such as sports training/competitions, with the help of more than 15,000 volunteers.

They also set up events to help others get involved and help raise money towards SOIA. Take the Polar Plunge for example. An event where individuals can raise money by plunging into freezing waters in Iowa. Since it is now Spring, and freezing water is hard to come by, individuals can participate in whatever else SOIA has to offer.

SOIA is sponsoring a free lunch, May 30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at all Texas Roadhouse locations in Iowa. 100% of all donations go towards SOIA. More information available here.
